Armed Conflict Survey 2017

According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London, in 2016 the number of war victims dipped. In 36 armed conflicts, in 2016 about 157,000 people lost their lives, roughly 10,000 less than in 2015. The war in Syria was the world’s most violent conflict. 90 percent of Syrian refugees ­settled in neighbouring countries. 
At the end of 2016, a total of 65.6 million people were refugees.
